At this workshop, we will review the guidelines and deadlines necessary for graduation this semester.  Topics will include applying to graduate, scheduling your defense, submitting your thesis, report, dissertation, or treatise to the Texas Digital Library, requesting an embargo, IRB requirements and reviewing what paperwork you must submit to the Graduate School.

Important business relationships are formed and strengthened in social settings including formal meals. The Dining Etiquette program is a three course meal, designed to enhance students’ and scholars' competence and comfort in any business-social setting. Students will learn rules for navigating a business lunch or dinner, including selecting the appropriate restaurant, timing of business discussions, addressing wait staff and other essential skills (even which fork to use)!

Come share some breakfast tacos and meet the Graduate Student Services team. Feel free to bring any questions about our processes and policies or even bring a laptop to have us work along with you on a task. This event will be come-and-go and open to graduate students, faculty and staff.

CTL staff will facilitate an asynchronous peer workshop in which participants will receive feedback on their teaching statement drafts and share suggestions to strengthen others' statements with vivid examples of teaching strategies and learner-centered goals.

Graduate school comes with a set of unspoken expectations and norms, often referred to as the “hidden curriculum.” This event is designed to help you build two essential skills: talking about yourself and advocating for yourself, in the classroom, in your research, and in your career.

In this session, Speaker Omar Abdullah will cover: Practical, non-cringey strategies to gain buy-in, follow up meaningfully, and stay top of mind inside and outside academia. In this session, graduate students will get comfortable with the parts of professional life that no one really teaches: influence, presence and connection.
